Fix to Copy Large Files in Vista Faster

Maybe you have already encountered the strange behavior that it takes much longer to copy large files in Windows Vista than in Windows XP. The problem is caused by a new feature called Auto Tuning which is by default enabled in Microsoft Windows Vista.

To disable Auto Tuning and speed up the copy process and avoid timeouts and disconnects do the following:

Open a command prompt and type the following:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

To turn it on again:

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

Don’t try this if you feel uncomfortable in DOS.

Never Shutdown Your Computer Without Your Permission

Here is an useful tool called ShutdownGuard. It prevents Windows to shutdown, reboot or log off. When it prevents a shutdown it will pop up in the tray and ask you if you want to continue.

How To Defragment Hard Drives Using CMD

Today I am sharing the easiest method with you to defrag. your hard drive. Though you can perform this task with third party applications also, but why don’t do it a simple way.

Here is a simple method to defragment your drives using Command Prompt :

1. Click on Start and then select Run, type CMD in it and hit enter.

2. Suppose I want to defrag my C drive, then in the command box I’ll write

defrag C: -f -v

and hit enter. The defragmentation will start.

Follow these steps to disable your Windows startup sound:

Click on the Start Button and type in Sound. Select Sound from the list.
Click on the Sounds tab.
Remove the check from Play Windows Startup sound.
Hit OK.

Change Registered Owner of Windows Vista
